Hi. I'm O.D. Thompson. My wife Joann and I are the founders of VETS-HELP-VETS.COM. Allow me to take a moment of your time so that I can tell you a bit about us and our organization.
I am a 100% Viet Nam disabled service-connected veteran. I served in Viet Nam for two tours with the USMC 1st Marine Air Wing. I was in-country from 1966-1968, including the Tet of '68. My wife Joann served for 25 years in the US Army and is a 30% disabled veteran.
Prior to 1989, I ran an auto dealership in Chesapeake, VA by the name of O.D. Thompson's Auto City. Then Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder forced me into bankruptcy, both mentally and physically. Before I realized what was happening, I had lost my wife, home, and everything of importance. After eleven years of homelessness, foggy memories, and running from shadows, I managed to find my way to a Veterans Hospital for treatment. After many hospital stays, they diagnosed my condition as a 100% PTSD disability plus an additional 20% medical disability due to the effects of agent orange.
I owe a lot to the Veterans Administration and the VA Hospitals. They have people working around the clock taking care of our veterans and meeting our every need. Today I offer my services to the homeless and suffering. My wife and I are able to supply transportation to the homeless to get to hospitals, make doctor's appointments, go to legal advisors, meet court dates, and attend nightly support meetings. I do all this while working as a volunteer for the Salvation Army in Virginia Beach, VA, where I also offer classes for relapse prevention on Tuesday nights.
In June of 2012, we purchased a 2004 15-passenger van to help even more people. We are a 501c(3) non-profit organization, so your generous donations are tax-deductible and most appreciated. There is so much more work to be done! You can send donations simply by clicking on this button:
Not everyone can donate funds, but if you have an old car or truck to donate, that would be gratefully accepted as well. Just let us know the details.
Thank you and may God Bless You.
